Manuscript Submission Guidelines

The Lebanese Medical Journal (LMJ) welcomes the submission of original, high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of medical and healthcare sciences. Authors are encouraged to carefully follow the instructions below to facilitate a smooth review and publication process.

 

Types of Manuscripts Accepted

LMJ considers the following categories of submissions:

 

    • Original Research Articles
    • Review Articles
    • Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
    • Case Reports and Case Series
    • Short Communications
    • Clinical Studies
    • Public Health and Epidemiological Research
    • Medical Education Research
    • Editorials and Commentaries
    • Letters to the Editor

 

Manuscript Preparation

Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear and concise English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited before submission.

 

Formatting Requirements

 

  • Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
  • Double-line spacing throughout the manuscript.
  • Margins of at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides.
  • Pages should be numbered consecutively.

 

Manuscript Structure

Title Page

Include:

 

  • Full title of the manuscript.
  • Running title (maximum 50 characters).
  • Full names of all authors.
  • Institutional affiliations.
  • Corresponding author’s name, email address, and postal address.
  • ORCID IDs (recommended).

 

Abstract

 

  • Maximum 250 words.
  • Structured abstract for original research articles:
    • Background
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
  • Provide 3–6 keywords below the abstract.

 

Main Text

Original Research Articles should generally include:

 

  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgments (if applicable)
  • Conflict of Interest Statement
  • Funding Statement
  • References

 

Ethical Requirements

Human Subjects Research

Studies involving human participants must comply with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and must have received approval from an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee.

 

Informed Consent

Authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants where applicable.

 

Animal Research

Studies involving animals must comply with relevant institutional and national guidelines for animal care and use.

 

Authorship Criteria

All listed authors should have made substantial contributions to:

 

  • Study conception and design, data acquisition, or analysis.
  • Drafting or critically revising the manuscript.
  • Approval of the final version.
  • Accountability for the integrity of the work.

 

References

LMJ follows the Vancouver Referencing Style.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all references.

 

Tables and Figures

 

  • Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively.
  • Each table and figure must have a descriptive title or legend.
  • Images should be submitted in high-resolution formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF).
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for copyrighted material.

 

Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work reported in the manuscript.

 

Funding Information

Sources of financial support must be clearly identified in the manuscript.

 

Plagiarism Policy

LMJ maintains a strict policy against plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and duplicate publication. All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software. Manuscripts found to violate publication ethics will be rejected.

 

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment followed by a double-blind peer-review process. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope or fail to meet scientific and ethical standards.

 

Article Processing Charge (APC)

An Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 300 is payable only after a manuscript has been accepted for publication. There is no fee for manuscript submission or peer review.

 

Copyright and Open Access

Articles published in LMJ are made freely available under an open-access publishing model. Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right to publish and distribute the article.

Authors should submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system or via the official editorial email address provided on the journal website.
